Effective January 1, 2023, SHC Tri-Valley will move its POS II and HDHP health plans to the Stanford Health Care Alliance (SHCA) platform. You’ll benefit from SHCA’s integrated Member Care Services and Care Management expertise.

Key Plan Features
What’s staying the same
You have the same three plan options: EPO SHCA, POS II SHCA and the HDHP SHCA plan.
Aetna will administer the plans, providing the same POS II and HDHP networks currently available. The EPO SHCA plan with its limited provider network remains active for existing members.
What’s changing
Members using the POS II or HDHP plans will join their EPO counterparts in experiencing the value and support of SHCA’s integrated care model.
Our Care Management team is part of the Stanford Medicine family and has access to Stanford’s electronic medical record system. This allows our nurse care managers and care coordinators to really get to know you, understand your care, message providers on your behalf and support you on your health care journey.
Our Member Care Services team is also part of Stanford Medicine. They have access to both Stanford’s electronic medical record system and Aetna’s claim system. They can answer questions about your benefits, including share of costs and claims. They can help you find in-network providers, assist in scheduling appointments, and when appropriate, connect you with other resources such as Care Management.
Open Enrollment
If you’d like to remain with your current health plan for 2023, you don’t need to do anything. Unless you designate otherwise, Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley members will keep their existing plan.
In early January, POS II SHCA and HDHP SHCA members will receive new ID cards with both the SHCA and Aetna logos. Your pharmacy ID card will remain the same.
